Since the ancient times, there have been some well considered set astrological traditions according to which the ceremonies or sacred tasks like marriages etc. are either performed or are prohibited from performance, to avoid troubles in matrimonial life.

One such tradition is that when Jupiter planet enters Leo sign (Sinhasta Guru), marriages etc. are not performed. Presently there are so many disputes regarding this. Some astrologers hold the view that till Jupiter goes to next sign i.e. Virgo, no marriages should be done. Others hold the view that seen microscopically – the above tradition will apply only to the period till Jupiter is in Leo Navamsa of Leo sign, which is from 30th September 2003 to 17th October 2003 and thereafter it, can be performed. This rule applies to whole of India except the region between Ganga and Godavari. But for such areas – there is another safety proviso in the scriptures i.e. when Sun enters the Aries (Mesha) sign, this defect of Sinhasta Guru will not apply to these regions also and marriages can be performed.
According to us, this second view seems to be more logical and proper.

It is a myth that Sade Sati of Saturn planet always gives-bad effects to every person. It is not true. Actually Sade Sati should not be seen only from the moon rasi (where moon is) in the birth chart but rather it should be considered from the degrees of Moon at the time of birth.

According to a well considered view, the whole period of Sate Sati for different signs (rasis) should be seen as below :-

1	Aries	first 2½ yrs are bad, rest 5 yrs. Are OK.
2	Taurus	first 2½ yrs. Are bad.
3	Gemini	Last 2½ yrs. Are bad.
4	Cancer	Middle 2½ are out of 7½ yrs. Are bad.
5	Leo	First 2½ yrs. Bad, next middle 2½ yrs. Disastrous.
6	Virgo	same as Leo
7	Libra	Last 2½ yrs. Disastrous.
8	Scorpio	Last 5 yrs. Are bad – esp. middle 2½ yrs. Disastrous
9	Saggitarius	First 2½ yrs. Are bad.
10	Capricorn	First 2½ yrs. Disastrous, next 2½ yrs. Bad, Last 2½ yrs.
11	Aquarius	First 2½ yrs bad, middle OK, Last 2½ yrs disastrous.
12	Pisces	Whole 7½ yrs. Period is bad especially last 2½ yrs. Period is very very bad.

This is also subject to the position of Saturn in birth chart and Vimshotri Dasha at that time in that birth chart. For example if Saturn is well situated without any malefic conjunctions or effects and dasha sequence is also good, then the bad effect of Sade Sati will be accordingly reduced and sometimes a Sade Sati period can be a period of affluence and peace for some signs (rasis) and even in those cases where it is bad, it is bad only from the point of view of material life and indicates period of struggle which can be overcome by remembering god’s name or chanting mantras or by meditation- thus making it a period of spiritual growth.
